Magnificent magnolia trees are the centrepiece to this great location. 700 metres to the centre of town, 300 metres to the post office, 100 metres to a harbour swimming beach, 50 metres to the town nursing centre. Great location and great views. The sunsets on the west coast of Tasmania are amazing with crimson to burnt orange and a 6km drive to Ocean Beach to watch the sun set over the Great Southern Ocean.

Children & Extra Guest Policy:
Sorry, no children under the age of 12. The Jessie room is our 2 bedroom suite and the only room that will cater for 2 extra guests. Prices are per room for two persons and each extra person in Jessie is $62.00 per person.
Reception Information:
Our reception phone is manned from 7am to 10pm.
Business Facilities:
A business centre is available for guests with internet, phone and fax. Charge for the internet is $5.00 per hour. A wireless network is also available with a flat fee of $5.00 per day limited download. Telstra is the only mobile service available in Strahan and the west coast.

Discover our history room in the attic and browse through our memorabilia. Grab a book from our extensive library and get cosy. Have a drink before dinner, after dinner, before lunch, after lunch in fact the sun is over the yardarm all the time at Ormiston House. Wander through our gardens, sit in the sun or just watch the birds. Go up to the widows walk and we'll send some cheese and wine with you. Walk across the road and sit by the shoreline or take a short walk to the jetty or beach and have a swim. Get your camera set up for our magnificent sunsets. Ask Mike about fishing he's the guru.

Getting There:
Arriving from Queenstown ( Hobart ) drive onto the Esplanade, veer right onto the Esplanade and continue past the old customs house and around the corner and ormiston House is on the right on the corner of Bay Street. From Zeehan ( Burnie, Cradle Mtn, Launceston ) continue to the Esplanade and Ormiston House is on the left as you turn from Bay Street onto the Esplanade.
